Copenhagen- beautiful and intriguing

It was a little hard to leave the beauty of north Denmark, and it seemed that most of Denmark was traveling south to Copenhagen with us on the train. Just before our train change in Aalborg, the conductor told us that our connecting train was cancelled. Instead we would wait an hour and hope for a seat on the next train for the 4+ hr trip to Copenhagen. Will and I managed to get 2 of the drop down seats in the bike/stroller area of a train car. At every stop, more and more weekend travelers boarded, and we were surrounded by bikes and baby prams. There are lots of brave young parents traveling with very young babies all over Denmark!

Walking around Copenhagen is like walking in a huge museum of life with all its beauty and bumps. The statue above was created to protest the City’s plan to build an underground parking garage in the area, causing destruction of buildings, a playground and old trees. The sculptor Jens Galschiot was recruited by residents to create this eloquent sculpture. He has works in other cities that are as equally profound.
